Notes from our journal - Our repair and re-cycle guide
Our luxury cashmere clothing and accessories are pieces to treasure. We slowly craft each piece of luxury cashmere with thought, care and great skill. This slow and considered approach extends to supporting you with the care of your Kopila piece, throughout it’s lifetime and beyond.
Repair
Mending and repairing cashmere knitwear clothing
Your Kopila piece started life in the hands of artisans so repairing your piece when damaged only adds to your garments unique story, each chapter marked, a continuing story unfolding.
Repairing clothes is an environmentally conscious and creative way of prolonging their life and cashmere is no different. It’s also a joyful way of connecting with the fibres of your clothing, appreciating the beauty of the detail and the skill of our makers.
There are plenty of textile artists and visible or invisible menders to be found for inspiration on how to add your own decorative stitches, be it sashiko, darning or other traditional technique. This creative addition not only adds a new chapter to the life of your treasured piece but also extends its life.
Two such artists are @alexandrabrinck and Tessa The Dresser.
Pass on
We hope you will love your Kopila cashmere for time to come but you may at some point decide to pass it on to future generations or a loved one so that they can become new custodians of your luxury cashmere piece. Second hand luxury cashmere is also much coveted on resale sites and in second hand shops. So please always consider these options.
Recycle
One day your cashmere knitwear will be ready for recycling. Cashmere is 100% biodegradable so it will naturally break down however there are companies who specialise in recycling the fibres. Please consider ways to avoid your garment reaching landfill and donate to a cashmere recycling company or recycle at your local textile bank.
We are working on finding partners to support our repair, pass on and recycle values and will post updates on this soon.
